The first common whitethroat of the season was caught. Today a dunnock was recaptured who got its ring 2014 as a juvenile. So it is in its 5th year now.

David Manstrup came for his normal bird monitoring during the week. Bent changes some poles at the nets.

It was lovely to see and to hear a male common cuckoo (Cuculus canorus - Gøg - Kuckuck) at the wetland (mosen). Bent saw a hawfinch (Coccothraustes coccothraustes - Kernebider - Kernbeißer) and common whitethroat (Sylvia communis - Tornsanger - Dorngrasmücke).
Yesterday in the afternoon a European hare (Lepus europaeus - Hare - Feldhase) enjoyed the quiet catching garden.

A few barn swallows (Hirundo rustica - Landsvale - Rauchschwalbe) were at the wetland (mosen). One of them was preening a lot in the wind. How colourful they can look!

Maybe one of the coal tits ringed at the beginning of March was inspecting a nest box. It has a partner inspecting it too. Hopefully they will settle there. It would be nice to have a close look at them with their breeding business.

Yesterday I wrote it will be interesting to see how many of the wryneck will stay in the area. It depends how the behaviour of the photographer will be too. The fuglestation has good relationships to the neighbours. This could change quickly if persons who are easily recognized as ornithologist will further on enter private properties only for their own excitement to get a close shot. Of course it seems for this people it also does not matter that to establish a breeding ground it needs some privacy for the birds. Next time a photo will posted here.

The recaptured Eurasian wryneck (Jynx torquilla – Vendehals - Wendehals) got its ring on the 25th of April 2017. It was one of the breeding wryneck here around.

Today Bent was out for the ringing and he will be this in the near future.
David Manstrup and Henrik Böhmer had a very good morning with bird monitoring. They spotted a yellow-billed loon (Gavia adamsii, also known as the white-billed diver - hvidnæbbede lom – Gelbschnabeltaucher). A Eurasian sparrowhawk (Accipiter nisus – Spurvehøg -Sperber) passed by as I was talking to them.

The birds are coming closer to their breeding season. A female chaffinch took soft nest materials and a male chaffinch watched her closely.
A ring ouzel (Turdus torquatus – Ringdrossel - Ringdrossel) was seen close to the fuglestation.
