Visitors at the station

Even though we had a relatively low number of birds today, it was still very productive! We started off the first few net runs with cool birds like Eurasian Blackcap  (Munk) and another young Stonechat (Sortstr. Bynke.).

We were thankfully able to use the low number of birds to get some work done, including creating a station-specific guide for band sizes using english common names.  We also put some finishing touches on clearing out the net lanes (Henrik did a bit of mowing yesterday in a few areas which were starting to get overgrown) which made the actual net runs much easier.

Later in the day we were also able to show a few people around the station, including friends of Henrik and Anne's parents.  Unfortunately, it took until the second net run to catch a bird to show them but they were all very pleased to be able to see a young Yellowhammer (Gulspurv).

The observation team also had some nice finds, with a Green Sandpiper (Svaleklire) being the hightlige. We also had other nice finds like over 100 Red Knot (Islandsk Ryle) and an Arctic Skua (Almindelig Kjove).

Tomorrow is going to be Henrik's last day for a while, so hopefully we'll get some great birds for him!
